This Is Not the End. Cuz it's the beginning. Cuz it's a new book. Get it? See what I did there?
Okay, ignore the title of this blog post, because it’s dumb. I couldn’t think of anything better. My creative powers stop short whenever the length of a project is shorter than 50k. I get all panicked about running out of space and end up flailing. It’s a play on the title of the new book, that’s all: This Is Not the End.
Hey, I didn’t say it was a good play.
Anyway, I have a cover. It’s much better than the title of this blog post!
I also have a blurb. And an excerpt. That’s a lot of stuff to drop on you at once, but I like to throw the occasional deluge at my readers, just for fun. It’s like I’m raining men over here, only there are no men. Just book stuff. Which I like more anyway, because I’m already married, and the sheer number of elbows involved in a rain of men is intimidating, and hello, it’s book stuff. Who doesn’t love that?
I might’ve had too much coffee this morning.
Anyway. Cover below. Continuing the grand tradition of my first four books, I fricking love it. And the more I look at it, the more I love it. Carina Press is so good at coming up with covers, don’t you think? Classy and original and so good at creating a sense of mood and tone. No ridiculous abs and men in leather. Of course, that’s at least partially due to the fact that I don’t write books about men in leather with ridiculous abs. Not that abs aren’t nice—they’re swell—but I get bored of abs pretty quick when I’m reading about them, let alone writing about them. I’m usually pretty spare in body descriptions—I feel like they can get unrealistic pretty fast. Plus, I’m a big believer that sex scenes are like any other scene in a novel—they should be doing work, you know? Building character, developing conflict or a bond. Abs don’t do any of that, unless you’re telling me that so-and-so spends eighty hours a week in the gym in between his bouts of fighting monsters or mobsters or turning into a werepoodle or something. It’s interesting to me, that’s all, how you never hear characters with abs talk about going to the gym.
I bet you’re thinking I got off track.
You’d be right.
Anyway. Book is out January 11, 2021. You can preorder now if you like—you’ll find easy links to retailers when you click on the gorgeous cover below to get access to the blurb and the excerpt (which has some F-bombs, so be ready!).
And stay healthy and safe!
